Dr. Joshua Parmelee

Dr. Parmelee is a fourth generation native to this area of coastal Georgia. He graduated from Glynn Academy just a few blocks away from the Brunswick office and then earned a B.S. in biology from the University of Georgia. After graduation, he attended Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee where he met his wife, Dr. Meredith Parmelee, also an optometrist.

Dr. Parmelee has specific expertise and interest in diseases of the eye such as cataracts, diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. He is connected with surgical co-management of cataracts, glaucoma, various retinal conditions, and refractive surgeries like LASIK.

Dr. Parmelee enjoys experiencing all of the beauty that Brunswick and the Golden Isles have to offer in his free time. He enjoys, fishing, diving, surfing, hunting, and spending time with family. 

Dr. Meredith Parmelee joined our practice recently after working for six years in an optometry/ophthalmology co-management setting. She is originally from Clarksville, TN and completed undergraduate studies at Furman University in Greenville, SC.

She then graduated from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN and was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa honor society. Memphis was where she met her husband, Dr. Joshua Parmelee, who she enjoys practicing along-side.

In her free time, she enjoys traveling, playing golf, watching UGA football, spending time with family and is a member of St. Simons United Methodist Church. Dr. Josh and Dr. Meredith recently welcomed a new baby boy to their growing family.

Dr. Meredith Parmelee

Dr. J. Scot Ellis recently joined the staff of American Eyecare after practicing in coastal southern New Jersey for over 33 years. He was raised on Long Beach Island, New Jersey and then attended Wilkes University in Wilkes Barre, PA. His graduate medical studies were completed at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, PA.

Dr. Ellis established his practice in Sicklerville, NJ in 1991 and in Tuckerton, NJ in 2000. He was also the staff optometrist for Viking Yacht Company for over 20 years as well as the staff optometrist for the US Coast Guard Training Center, Cape May, NJ prior to his “Semi-Retirement”

As an Optometric Physician, Dr. Ellis is a Primary Eyecare Provider who is trained to diagnose, manage, and treat both refractive and medical conditions of the eye. Some of the more common conditions managed or treated by Dr. Ellis are dry eyes, glaucoma, diabetes, cataracts, and laser refractive surgery.

When away from the office, Dr. Ellis enjoys spending time with his family. He and his wife Suzanne recently moved to Brunswick. They have two adult children who are both military officers, and an adorable granddaughter who keeps them busy.
